Why Pickle & Pie?
Many, many years ago, Tim and Mia Tracey were trying to date around a chef’s working hours. Their favorite way to spend time together quickly became finding a good old-fashioned sandwich and sitting down for lunch.
There was just one problem: They couldn’t find the sandwich shop they were looking for.
They wanted that classic New York delicatessen experience…
The sandwiches are piled high, the pickles are crunchy, the pastrami is smoked in-house, and you can settle in for a really great lunch.
So they made one.
A place in Wellington CBD where you can find house-smoked pastrami, hand-carved Reubens, small-batch pickles and preserves, American-style sweet pies, Wellington’s best savory pies, and straight-up good vibes.
And so, Pickle & Pie was born.
A Little New York. A Lot Wellington.
A Little New York. A Lot Wellington.
A Little New York. A Lot Wellington. A Little New York. A Lot Wellington.
The Pickle
All our pickles are hand sliced, homemade, and damn good. Because if you’re going to call yourself Pickle & Pie, you better have very good pickles.
The Pie
Here’s the thing about the Pie…
Originally, the “Pie” in Pickle & Pie referred to sweet pies – the deep-dish, American kind we love. But, of course, this is New Zealand. And when most people hear “pie,” they expect a good old-fashioned Kiwi meat pie.
So we gave in. Which is why you can expect both: handmade sweet pies. And handmade savory pies.
So we’ll leave it up to you. What does the Pie in Pickle & Pie actually stand for??
We’re not entirely sure anymore. But it’s delicious either way!
